Empowering Linguistic Integration through Innovative AI Solutions for Education

How can we make language learning accessible, inclusive, and empowering for everyone—regardless of their background or life situation? This is the core question behind LIVE (Linguistic Integration through Virtual Environments), a new training initiative that bridges education, technology, and social inclusion.

LIVE finds its roots in the concept of iLanguage, developed through the doctoral research of Dr. Carola Koblitz. The concept was first applied through a series of innovative workshops for migrants living in Vienna, carried out by the iLanguage Association in collaboration with IRARU.ORG. These workshops, under the project title CALA – Creative Approach to Language Acquisition, were co-financed by the cultural department of Vienna’s District 9.

In CALA, linguists, educators, and art therapy facilitators came together to create safe, creative spaces where migrants could experience German in a positive and meaningful way. The results were inspiring—participants gained confidence, motivation, and a renewed sense of belonging. But as powerful as art therapy is, it can also be resource-intensive and not scalable or accessible to all.

This realization led to the birth of LIVE—a training that reimagines the safe space traditionally offered by art therapy sessions through the power of artificial intelligence. AI offers a non-judgmental, patient, and fully adaptable virtual environment that learns with the user, at their own pace and rhythm. It is accessible to a wide audience, anytime, anywhere.

LIVE respects and responds to that diversity. Through its multiplier effect, the training aims not only to empower the participants but also to extend its impact to many others in their communities.
